Potjie Challenge @ NFV – Sunday 23 September

HERITAGE DAY POTJIE CHALLENGE @ NOORDHOEK FARM VILLAGE: Sunday 23 September 2012

National Braai Day and Heritage Day are on Monday 24th September and Noordhoek Farm Village plans to celebrate both occasions on this proudly South African National Holiday by having a potjie challenge at the village, the day before to enable more braais on Monday!

We have awesome restaurants at Noordhoek Farm Village (the Foodbarn Restaurant, Foodbarn Deli &Tapas,  The Toad, Café Roux & Village Sushi) and as  the potjie is a much loved South African tradition with 3 legs we are challenging people to enter (for free!) and make a potjie. You will be competing against 3 restaurants from Noordhoek Farm Village.

Potjiekos  (Pronounced poy-kee- kawse) directly translated “pot food” or food prepared in a pot. In South African this means one thing – food prepared outdoors in a cast iron, round, three legged pot over an open fire (wood coals or charcoal). Preparing a potjiekos meal is very much an individual thing and aspiring cooks have experimented for years to come up with the “perfect” potjie.

Now is your chance to make the perfect potjie and beat our Noordhoek Farm Village restaurants in a potjie cook- off. The challenge is to make a truly South African potjie over an open fire at Noordhoek Farm Village on Sunday 23 September 2012. Entries are limited so apply now by emailing: info@noordhoekvillage.co.za with your application. Entries are free.

Bring friends and family to join the fun.

Visitors to Noordhoek Farm Village will be able to sample the potjies in eco-friendly containers, which will be sold for R20 each.

Visitors can choose which potjie you would like to sample (and maybe influence the judges).

Proceeds from the sales will go to our local Rugby Club: Masiphumelele Rugby Club to raise funds for a proudly South African Sport!

We encourage lots of Proudly South African Dress up!
